Sir Elton John has opened up about his health prompting an outpouring of support from his fans.
The iconic musician took to Instagram to to let his fans know he is making a slow recovery after developing a severe eye infection which has left him with limited sight. He wrote on Instagram: “Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye.
“I am healing but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.” Elton, 77, continued: ‘I am grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks.

“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.” He signed off: “With love and gratitude, Elton John.”
Sir Elton’s followers then rushed to share their well-wishes and support for him in the comments section. Designer Donatella Versace wrote: “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you.”
Former Westlife star Brian McFadden posted a series of heart emojis on the upload, while singer T.J. Osbourne wrote: “Take your time and recover, Elton. We’ll be here waiting for your return when you’re healthy and ready ;).”

Last year, Elton, 77, was taken to hospital after he suffered a fall at his villa in Nice. Prior to that in 2021 he underwent a hip surgery that saw him forced to reschedule several dates on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
Shortly after the procedure he attended an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle to mark his appointment as a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour by then-Prince Charles. Speaking at the ceremony as he walked with the aid of a stick he said: “I may not look as if I’m 100% fit – I’m not quite – but I’m still raring to go and I’ve got a lot more work to do as far as my life goes.”
Elton performed his last ever concert date on 8 July 2023 in Stockholm after more than 50 years of performing. Farewell Yellow Brick Road was his goodbye to fans after vowing to retire from live shows following the 49 date long tour.
