Governors meet on minimal wage, LG autonomy, others

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, and Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, have arrived on the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Head Office in Abuja for the group’s assembly.

Under the management of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, the NGF is predicted to debate points, together with the brand new minimal wage and native authorities autonomy, amongst others.

The governors had beforehand rejected the Federal Government’s proposal of N62,000, stating that some states would want to borrow to pay salaries.

Despite this, organised labour continues to demand a minimal wage of N250,000.

The governors selected to carry an emergency assembly after the Federal Executive Council postponed the minimal wage dialogue on Tuesday to permit President Bola Tinubu to conduct broader consultations.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government’s case on the Supreme Court towards the 36 state governors, which seeks to implement full autonomy for native governments, remains to be pending.
