Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has declared Tuesday, 20 August 2024, a work-free day to mark this 12 months’s Isese Day celebration.
The declaration is contained in a round titled “Commemoration of Year 2024 Isese Day – Declaration of Work Free Day”, which was issued on Monday by the state’s Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
The round stated the vacation was declared to indicate Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to help conventional establishments, in addition to improve the preservation of cultural heritage.
It, nevertheless, directed public servants to renew work on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, by 8.00 am.
The round reads, “It is hereby notified for basic info that this Year’s Isese Day Celebration will likely be held on Tuesday, twentieth August 2024.
“In emphasising dedication to provide vital help to conventional establishments, in addition to improve the promotion of Indigenous custom by preserving cultural heritage, Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has authorised that Tuesday, twentieth August 2024, be declared a Work-Free Day for Public Servants within the State.
“Consequently, work resumes on Wednesday, twenty first August, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.
“Accordingly, all Accounting Officers are enjoined to note the contents of this Circular and give it the deserved Service wide publicity.”
This is the primary time the Lagos State Government has declared a public vacation to have fun Isese Day, following the United Nations’ declaration of twentieth August as World Traditional Religion Day.
