Oasis’ publicity stunt spectacularly backfires as fans savage band over ticket scandal

Oasis fans have taken aim at the band as they continue to ignore their ticket price backlash – instead posting a video promoting the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe.

The iconic band came under fire when tickets to their 2025 UK and Ireland reunion tour went on sale this weekend. Fans battled queues lasting hours, crashed websites and a staggering rise in prices. Before tickets went on sale, Oasis fans were told seat prices for the tour would start from £74 while standing would be between £148.50 and £151.

However, when thousands of fans tried to buy tickets they were greeted by ones that had shot up to a staggering £350 each. It has sparked fierce debate over ‘dynamic pricing’ being applied to tickets sold on Ticketmaster. Oasis are yet to respond to the criticism, yet they posted a clip with Noel Gallagher to mark debut album Definitely, Maybe’s 30th anniversary.

In the post, the band said: “Definitely? Maybe? Noel answers your questions! Thank you for submitting your ‘Definitely Maybe’ questions on Oasismynet back in June… Did yours make the cut?” The video showed Noel responding to questions submitted by fans. However, those in the comment section were not impressed as they decided to savage the band over the ticket scandal.

One quipped: “How much did it cost to send your questions in?” Another added: “I’ve got a question about dynamic ticket pricing.” Someone else commented: “Did they rob fans wanting to go at face value? Definitely maybe.” A fourth wrote: “Did you pay more than double to ask your question?” Another fumed: “How much did it cost to send your questions in???”

The video was also shared on the band’s official YouTube channel, and Liam Gallagher was nowhere to be seen. Brother Noel avoided any ticketing queries as he was asked about song choices and inspiration behind a number of the band’s top hits. Liam also shared a new campaign as he remains silent on the ticket scandal.

On Tuesday, he posted a new photo on his Instagram account as part of a campaign with Stone Island. Under the photo, one fan fumed: “Think of all those jackets you could buy for the price of a ticket Don’t mind me I’m just raging I didn’t get one!” Another added: “Can’t afford a new jacket after buying 2 tickets for your Wembley show.” Someone else commented: “The longer oasis hold their silence on the ticket pricing the worse its gonna get.” A fourth declared: “More. Dates. Fare. Prices.” One fan quipped: “Shame on you with the ticket prices….”

In his caption, Liam simply said: “LIAM GALLAGHER, ROCK ‘N’ ROLL STAR @stoneisland.” The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has received 450 complaints about Ticketmaster adverts for the Oasis gigs. A spokesperson for the UK’s regulator of advertising said the complainants argue that the adverts made “misleading claims about availability and pricing”.

In 2022, Ticketmaster decided that when there is an increase of demand, a limited supply of tickets are allowed to go up in price. They say the point of the dynamic pricing system is to “give fans fair and safe access to the tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true market value”.
