An airplane with 62 folks on board crashed Friday in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state, firefighters and the airline Voepass mentioned.
Although no official dying toll has been given, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva mentioned throughout an official occasion that it appeared there have been no survivors.
“A plane just crashed in the city of Vinhedo in Sao Paulo, with 58 passengers and four crew members and it seems that everyone died,” Lula mentioned in the midst of a speech in Itajai in Santa Catarina state.
The plane was touring from Cascavel in southern Parana state to Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos worldwide airport.
In a press release Voepass reported “an accident involving flight 2283.”
“There is still no confirmation of how the accident occurred or the current situation of the people on board,” it mentioned.
Images broadcast on native media confirmed a big airplane nosediving at excessive pace, whereas others confirmed a big column of smoke rising from the crash web site in what seemed to be a residential space.
The Fire Department of Sao Paulo wrote on social community X: “Aircraft crash, 7 teams involved, so far only this information.”
The metropolis of Vinhedo, with about 76,000 residents, is positioned roughly 80 kilometers (50 miles) northwest of Sao Paulo.
