Bindi and Robert Irwin paid tribute to their father on the 18th anniversary of his tragic death.
Both stars took to their social media pages to share rare snaps of their late father. Steven tragically died in 2006 at the age of 44 after suffering an injury caused by a stingray while filming a documentary in the Great Barrier Reef. Bindi, 26, shared a snap of young Steve holding a huge crocodile at Australia Zoo.
“It is an honour to help continue the work you started,” she captioned the post. “Your legacy lives on in our family, our team, Australia Zoo, Wildlife Warriors and The Crocodile Hunter Lodge. Hope to make you proud.” Fans rushed to the comment section to share their support for the family.
“You and Robert don’t even have the slightest idea how proud he is of you both! You guys carry on his legacy better than anyone else could!” one proud user wrote while another posted: “I am so thankful that a piece of Steve really did live on in you guys. Outstanding in your own right and amazing to see.”

Robert also shared his own post featuring a snap of Steve looking nonchalant as he held a film camera on his shoulders while filming a fully grown crocodile. Steve was sitting in a little boat to keep safe as the crocodile leapt up from the water. Robert simply captioned the photo with a heart emoji and a crocodile emoji.
Steve was a beloved Australian wildlife expert and TV presenter who was best known as the Crocodile Hunter. The TV star was raised in Queensland Australia and spent most of his life surrounded by various creatures, that most people are afraid of. He made several appearances on wildlife shows before fronting a number of his own animal documentaries.
The much-loved TV star led a colourful and adventurous life before his death and was a doting father to his two children. He left behind his kids Bindi and Robert and his wife Terri. In February, Robert took to his Instagram page to share home video footage of his famous dad exploring the Irwins’ Australia Zoo on a motorcycle, leaving fans emotional. He said: “Some of my fondest and earliest memories were on that bike,” Robert said in the video which he called ‘The Story of Dad’s motorbike.”
