Doctors stay on responsibility, NMA distances self from nationwide strike

The Nigerian Medical Association on Monday mentioned it isn’t an affiliate of the organised labour and its members are attending to sufferers who want healthcare providers.

The NMA clarified reviews by some media platforms (not The PUNCH) stating that medical doctors refused to affix the continuing indefinite strike declared by the Organised Labour.

The NMA, in a press assertion signed by its National Secretary-General, Dr Benjamin Egbo, said that although the affiliation will not be an affiliate of the organised labour, it shares the pains and hardship Nigerians are grappling with.

“The NMA has not declared a strike motion, therefore medical doctors will probably be at their responsibility posts to take care of purchasers who want to make use of well being providers.

“The NMA uses this avenue to call on Government as well as all stakeholders to consider the plight of the average Nigerian and do everything possible to address the issues that have led to the present impasse,” the assertion partly learn.
