Police arrest infamous bandit in Kaduna

Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have apprehended a 33-year-old infamous bandit, Abdulkarim Maude, round Upara Warsapiti, Lere Local Government Area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a press release on Tuesday.

Hassan said that upon arrest, the suspect was discovered with N347,000, a machete and a few charms.

He stated Maude confessed to being concerned in sundry kidnapping incidents with one Yakubu and two others from Binchim Village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The police spokesman stated the suspect added that the cash recovered was a part of his share of ransom following the kidnapping of two tractor operators, Yau Balele (45 years outdated) and Lukman Abubakar (40 years outdated).

The two, in accordance with him, have been kidnapped on May 17, 2024, whereas engaged on the farm of 1 Alhaji Gambo, including that the victims have been taken to Binchim Hills, Bassa LG, Plateau State and have been launched on May 20, 2024.

He stated, “On May 22, 2024, at about 10:00hrs, the Divisional Police Officer of Saminaka Division, appearing on credible intelligence, efficiently arrested a suspect recognized as Abdulkarim Usman Maude, aged 33, from Tudun Wada Mariri. The arrest came about in Upara Warsapiti, Lere Local Government Area (LGA).

“Upon his arrest, the suspect was present in possession of a bag containing the sum of ₦347,000, a machete, and a few prison charms. During interrogation, Maude confessed to being concerned in kidnapping for ransom together with one Alhaji Yakubu and two others from Binchim Village, Bassa LGA, Plateau State.

“The recovered money was identified as his share of the ransom collected from the kidnapping of two tractor operators, Yau Balele (45 years old) and Lukman Abubakar (40 years old), who were abducted on May 17, 2024, while working on the farm of Alhaji Gambo. The victims were taken to Binchim Hills, Bassa LGA, Plateau State, and were released on May 20, 2024.”

He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices whereas noting that the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for additional investigation with the recovered reveals.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ali Dabigi, has assured the general public that the command remained dedicated to making sure the security and safety of all residents whereas appreciating the continued help and cooperation from the general public.

Dabigi additionally urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious actions to the closest police station.
