Police probe trigger-happy cop for taking pictures electrician to demise over N200

The Bayelsa State Police Command has stated it has recognized and arrested a policeman who shot a 40-year-old electrician, Benalayefa Bako Asiayei, to demise over N200 alongside the Azikoro Road in Yenagoa, the state capital.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the late Asiayei was getting back from work in his car, a Toyota Sienna, at about 8.00 pm on Tuesday when he was shot by the policeman connected to the Bayelsa State safety outfit, Operation Doo Akpo.

The deceased who was an electrician hailed from Bobougbene group in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State was carrying a passenger within the entrance seat when the incident occurred.

An eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent on the situation of anonymity stated the Operation Doo Akpo patrol stopped the driving force and demanded N200 as their standard assortment bundle from motorists which he stated he didn’t have.

The eyewitness stated the late Asiayei complained that he was carrying just one passenger whereupon the policeman abruptly cocked his gun and fired at him at point-blank vary.

When PUNCH Metro contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Musa Mohammed, he confirmed the incident, saying that the killer cop had been recognized, and arrested and inner disciplinary motion commenced.

Mohammed stated, “The policeman accountable is connected to the state safety outfit, Operation Doo Akpo. He has been arrested and can face inner disciplinary motion quickly after the investigation.
